In their efforts to fight hate, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart earned a "No Place For Hate" award from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The award was given to SR at a May 17 ceremony at the U.S. Navy Memorial Heritage Center.
Six other schools from Virginia and elsewhere in Maryland also received the distinction. The winning schools each completed three activities that had a school-wide impact and promoted respect and inclusion.
"These schools are leading the way in a grassroots fight against bias, bigotry and bullying in their communities," stated Seth Gordon-Lipkin, an ADL education director. "The students, educators and family members who have championed these efforts have sent a clear, unified message that hatred has no place in the hallways and classrooms of their schools."
