Elyse Martin '22 and her family traveled to Austria in August to attend a large family reunion, where they took the opportunity to tour our Sacred Heart school in Bregenz – Sacré Coeur Riedenburg. Two of Elyse's aunts boarded at the school in the 1970s, and her cousin graduated from Riedenburg this year.
The Martin family embraced learning about this Network school, which sits on a hilltop overlooking the breathtaking mountains of Vorarlburg, Austria, just beyond the Lake of Constance. The campus houses a beautiful neo-Gothic style church where students graduate. The school encompasses Primary, Secondary, and High School levels and offers boarding. Riedenburg, originally a monastery opened in 1854, became a Sacred Heart teaching and educational institute in 1855 and Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart, visited in 1856.
